Tommy and Eileen's 33 "Rats Glass" Roadster

This beautiful 33 came to us for some upgrades. A disturbing oil leak turned out to be cause for the following upgrades worthy of this very fine vehicle!

Don't forget, click on each photo for a larger view then click the back button on your browser to go back.

When changing a rear main seal didn't work, Tommy decided that the motor had to be pulled to check the cam plug in the back of the motor. We brought the car in and decided to take a look.

We dissassembled the front panels and pulled the motor out of the car. What we found was an undersized cam plug that was rtv'd into place. Tommy had it right when thinking that it was the cam plug. Since the motor needed to be pulled, Tommy decided to replace it with a GM create 350/330hp motor. This is the upgrade that I mentioned earlier . . . read on to see what else was installed!

The new GM create arrived and we immediately cleaned the block and painted it red to match the car. We prefer to use Plasticoat engine paint when we change the color of a block. Plasticoat has the colors and holds up better than any other engine paint that we have used.

If you know me, then you know that there are certain things that drive me crazy. It's those old attention to detail items that absolutely make me nuts! You can see in the first photo how the wires criss-cross on the firewall. What you can't see are the terminal ends that needed to be replaced because I simply did not like the way they looked. I installed new terminal ends that I crimped, soldered and heat shrinked. The second photo shows the wiring cleaned up and the firewall polished to a nice gloss.

The third and forth photos are with the new motor installed. I know that you took a second look at the forth photo because you think that you are seeing things. Well, believe what you see . . . that is an Edelbrock Endurashine dual quad setup on top of that create! If you want to wake up a motor . . . install one of these bad boys!

Here are the before and after shots. Most times a photo makes a vehicle look better than it does. I guess that the photo on the right is much like me . . . we simply don't photograph well. You have to see this in person to appreciate the beauty! We will be getting this very fine 33 back in to adjust the front sheetmetal and install some nice new gauges. I will take a picture outside in the sun for all to enjoy.
