Here is the 40 Ford pickup as delivered to The StreetRod Store. For this installation we will need to pull the motor and cut out the existing motor mounts in preparation for the new crossmember.
The motor and trans were pulled and the chassis was degreased before any cutting was performed. You can see by this photo that the Heidt's Superide II will suit this ride just fine!
The motor mounts and steering box were removed. At this point we will secure the frame rails and remove the original cross member.
The frame was boxed and the new Heidt's crossmember was welded into place. The rack, spindles, and the rest of the components were installed. Looks much better . . . doesn't it!
The motor and trans were set, and Chassis Engineering motor mounts were used to secure the motor. Flaming River U Joints and shafts were used to tie-in the steering. At this point the owner will take over. We hear that a fresh crate engine is on it's way.
The StreetRod Store is willing to work with you within your
budget constraints. New brake lines were installed from the master
cylinder to the new front disc brakes. The frame was not painted as
the owner is going to pull the motor and finish it out himself. We
can't wait to see it completed!
