Project 1955 Crown Victoria

This 1955 Crown Victoria is going to get some modern updates. Planned for this vehicle are front disc brakes from Jamco, power steering from Gearheads, rewired with American Autowire, Vintage Air and Air Ride. There are other changes that we will reveil at a later date. If you are in the neighborhood and stop in, we just may let you in on the secret.

These front drum brakes have got to go!  The suspension needs to be rebuilt and a nice power disc brake kit is in much need.

Jamco provided the most complete power disc conversion kit. We were very impressed with everything that we received and how easily everything went together! This front end now has new busings, ball joints, tie rod ends in addition to the Jamco front disc brakes.

These are wheels and tires that will be installed on the Vic. I think that the owner made the perfect choice for this ride!

The new firewall is taking shape. We will be fabricating the remainder of the floor pans and trans tunnel over the next few days.

The body supports and mounts have been rebuilt and the new floor pans welded into place. The remainder of the sheetmetal will be fabricated to button this car up. Once the sheetmetal has been seam sealed and painted, we will install the Vintage Air system and start to get this car wired! All of the gauges have been freshened up and ready to go back in.

The mock-up motor and trans goes back in to test the fit of the new firewall and so we may start to build the trans tunnel. The power booster and master cylinder also goes in to ensure clearances.

The new floor pans are in and the tunnel is almost complete. The new Lokar shifter was installed prior to the fabrication of the trans tunnel to make sure the clearances were correct. This phase of the project is almost complete.

The trans tunnel had been fabricated and welded into place. The Lokar shifter is installed and now we are working on the Lokar gas and brake pedals. The next step is to reinstall the front bench seat and set the steering column.

The firewall and inner fenders are primed and ready for paint. The Gearheads power steering box arrived and has been installed. We will be installing a stainless steel dual power booster and chrome master cylinder to compliment the clean lines of the firewall.

The front bags are installed and the new shock mounts installed (not shown). The ride height was checked, and steering stop extensions had to be fabricated. Once the firewall and inner fenders are painted, this front end will go back together. Wait until you see the next set of pics.
