Kenny's 68 Camaro

Kenny's 68 Camaro arrives for some upgrades. It is good to see that these classic muscle cars are receiving the attention to keep them alive. Scheduled for this ride is an American Autowire Classic update, Vintage Air Sure Fit, front disc conversion w/power brakes, and possibly power steering.

The engine compartment will see a nice transformation when all is completed. Keep checking back for updated progress.

The interior will also see some much need changes / improvements.

As you can see in the photo on the left, in addition to earlier photos, this Camaro is in need of a wiring update. We selected American Autowire's Classic Update for this 1968 Camaro. Just about everything is included in this kit and provides connections for an electric fan, A/C and the ability to connect additional power to the engine compartment directly to the back side of the fuse box. More photos will follow with this upgrade.

The brake/clutch pedal assembly needed to be rebuilt and modified. The bracket for the brake pedal rubber stop and brake light switch was broken and beyond repair. Since the clutch pedal would no longer be needed, the clutch pedal and stop were removed and used to fabricate a new brake stop and brake light switch holder. The assembly was media blasted, bushings replaced, and painted to look brand new!

The heater controls had to be modified for the Vintage Air "Sure Fit" air conditioning upgrade. After removal of the heater controls we found that one of the control arms were broken. A new arm was fabricated and the controls work good as new!

Upgrades to the front end included new coil springs, ball joints, bushings and the obvious, disc brakes. All brake lines were replaced and fresh brake fluid was added. No problem stopping this car now!

The interior of Kenny's car was renewed with some great products that include:

Carpeting, headliner, door panels, seat covers and foam rubber, center console, shifter, AM/FM sound system, new wiring from American Autowire and AC/Heat and defrost from Vintage Air.

Upgrades under the hood included power steering, power brakes, One Wire alternator, Vintage Air and American Autowire Classic update wiring.

Future plans are in the works for some power plant upgrades . . . check back for more details!

When Kenny's car arrived at our shop, pretty much nothing electrical was working. We decided to remove all of the old wire (what was left of it!) and install an American Autowire Classic Update kit for this classic car. The panel bolts directly into the original position and there are plenty of modern upgrades.

If you are planning to rewire a 1968 Camaro, you have to use this kit! Just about everything electrical is included in this kit. If you are interested in rewiring your 67-69 Camaro, please contact us about this kit.
