Craig picked up this 1984 Grand National and immediately went to work making it his own. When Craig purchased this car, it had no motor, bumper fillers, or heat/air. This is a good shot of the engine compartment with no engine and a large hole where the heater box was.
This is a shot of the Grand National engine management wiring that we will need to tie-in to the Camaro computer and harness.
As you can see, the bumper fillers were destroyed.
The heater / AC is installed.
This is a closer shot of the Heat / AC unit reinstalled in the car. We obtained this out of Craig's old Cutlass.
Here is the 327 with the tune port installed that Craig took off of an 85 Camaro.
Another view of the engine.
Here is the car back together and in our new shop.
As you can see, the body is very clean. There are a few areas that need attention, but overall this car is very solid.
Craig is a member of gbodyforum.com and he is keeping them updated with the progress of this build.
Since the car was purchased without the original engine, Craig decided to move forward with what he had so this car could see the road again. The current engine is a 327ci engine from an early Nova. A TPI was added from an 85 Camaro and backed by a T5 transmission from another Camaro.
The Camaro and Grand National wiring were combined to make this switch work. The Camaro computer is driving the car, but nothing was done to keep us from putting the car back to original when the day comes.
The Grand National is shaping up really nice.
Craig is going to install larger injectors and the interior is being reupholstered.
Here is a sneek peek what the interior color will be. We are reupholstering the seats gray and black tweed. So far it is all looking great. Keep checking for updates and move clips of this car!
Craig installed the tach and the console gauges.
Craig picked up a pair of bucket seats off of Craig's List to get by while he is waiting for me to finish stitching up the original buckets. He did manage to get me to make the shifter boot!
The Grand National gets a new exhaust! Craig finally bit the bullet and installed a new system in his GN.
The exhaust is tucked up nice!
